Thanks for these great tips David. I definitely only open the headlines that get my attention. Also, blogging is all about having a conversation with your readers so its all about writing like you are talking to them face to face.

Hey, just recently found your blog and I really like it.
This post is all too true, just today I unsubscribed to two blogs that had quality content but were just so unreadable. My favorite blogs are the ones who can pack a lot of interesting and helpful info that's easy for my wondering mind to keep reading.
The only thing I disagree with here is your comment that Shakespeare would have been a bad blogger. I think he would've kicked but, sure he wrote long, but he could pack so much into so few words. Also he was adept at making up new words, which is what blogging is really about isn't it?

You should also add that when writing a blog post, you really should outline it. Don't just start writing. Plan what you're going to write before you just throw it up online.

Excellent tips particularly the using Sub-Titles for the ADD folks. It is so hit or miss out here with out a good post title or hook the line just sits there or worse falls to the bottom.

LOL at "CRAZY ADD" but you're 100% right. People are click-happy as all get out. Attention is the most valuable commodity out there right now. If you can bring people in that's great...try keeping em engaged...that's the next level!

Adding bullets and breaking up the content with bold, italics, and headings is crucial as well. We all seem to have ADD in this day and age...I've thought about shortening my post length as a result.
