David Risley: How To Write For Blog Readers Just RIDDLED With ADD

  • Firas Steitiyeh · 1 month ago
That is an excellent bunch of tips!! I think all bloggers should think of the readers when writing, and put themselves in their readers' shoes!

All readers look forward to scan the article, nobody reads a 700 word article no more!!

    Best,
    Firas

Hey David, thanks for these tips. A lot of bloggers seem to be talking to themselves in their posts. We really need catchy headlines and (of course) interesting content.

Mighty has it right, and I talk to myself sometimes. I'm learning to *listen* to myself as well, and hearing me talk to myself is a clue: talk to the reader instead! Thanks for the great tips.

Thanks for these tips! This is actually my focus for this week on my blog, to really concentrate on the headlines from here on out! Thanks for some great insight - I like the notion of pattern interrupt - that has me brainstorming right now!! :-)

    HI David,
Thanks for these tips. Breaking the state of hypnosis is a good one. With so much information being read, it takes something special to stand out and draw people in.

Yes just like the heading of your post is working here ... How to ?

This post of yours refresh my some old memory and technique as well.

But David I do not like your fonts in the middle heading.

My problem is I don't know to make headlines. poor me.

Adding bullets and breaking up the content with bold, italics, and headings is crucial as well. We all seem to have ADD in this day and age...I've thought about shortening my post length as a result.

Nice Post David ........... but where is the part for the ADD readers on Ritalin for bloggers like me?

    Happy Holidays Everyone!

LOL at "CRAZY ADD" but you're 100% right. People are click-happy as all get out. Attention is the most valuable commodity out there right now. If you can bring people in that's great...try keeping em engaged...that's the next level!

Excellent tips particularly the using Sub-Titles for the ADD folks. It is so hit or miss out here with out a good post title or hook the line just sits there or worse falls to the bottom.

You should also add that when writing a blog post, you really should outline it. Don't just start writing. Plan what you're going to write before you just throw it up online.

Hey, just recently found your blog and I really like it.
This post is all too true, just today I unsubscribed to two blogs that had quality content but were just so unreadable. My favorite blogs are the ones who can pack a lot of interesting and helpful info that's easy for my wondering mind to keep reading.
The only thing I disagree with here is your comment that Shakespeare would have been a bad blogger. I think he would've kicked but, sure he wrote long, but he could pack so much into so few words. Also he was adept at making up new words, which is what blogging is really about isn't it?
    Thanks for the post.
