Akismet has caught nearly 100% of the spam, but occasionally it will mark legitimate posts as spam as well, so I always skim the spam folder quickly before deleting. If you're using Akismet, I'd recommend still checking it because occasionally it will identify legitimate posts that contribute to a discussion as spam.

Re: Blog Comment Spam – A Sign of Popularity?

Hi David

Commented on one of your guest bloggers posts re blog spam so I am glad I've had a look at this, I've suddenly been hit with up to 50 spam comments a day and I'm more concerned with deleting genuine comments in frustration that anything

Most of the spam comments are obvious generic entries, mis matched names and blogs and obviously false e mail addresses, that said it's still a pain spending over an hour a day dealing with the fallout of it

Thanks for sharing Tony

Re: Blog Comment Spam – A Sign of Popularity?

I can't wait to that day when I have to think about spam preventing:)

Re: Blog Comment Spam – A Sign of Popularity?

Hi David,

thank you for recommending my CPR plugin. :) It's good see that "the word about comment spam" spreads around the blogsphaere and that more blogger are telling other people to care about it.

Yeah, many does not care.
